Are you guys nerds?

Tell her you have decided to sell all of your MD gear and will be stopping by the strip club after pawning your gear, so dont wait up.

So, I am anxiously awaiting my first ever MD, which I received yesterday, and my wife is sparing no opportunity to make fun of me.

She told me I need to buy some short shorts, tube socks, black shoes, some manner of plaid fanny pack and some other stuff. I think she is stereotyping here.

But it begs the question, are you guys nerds or what? How do I counter this constant barrage of negativity from my much better half?

Im not a nerd either! I have retired from the Navy (FMF) as a corpsman, Been to war a few times, I have worked for over 15 years part time as a Paramedic, I hunt, fish, ride my Yamaha Rhino and Gas Gas Trials bike. I work as a Corrections officer (hate it) and like to do anything spontainious. I tell my wife I have to keep in practice with the geek stick so as when I get called out of retirement I can find IED's (she doesnt know my job has nothing to do with that) Far from nerd I am, I would have to say I am a outgoing person.

Semper Fi, 700 Varmint. I guess you may have spent some liberty hours in "J'ville" or Oceanside.

700varmint leads me to believe you are a Remington 700 owner. I just bought a Remingtom 700 VMT.

yep on all assumptions, plus some other places which will remain nameless,,,,I wonder if I am allowed back in Thailand yet? LOl J/K my favorite rifle is the Remington 700. Currently my favorite cal is 260 rem on a 700 action.

Proud 700 owner here too.... BDL classic deluxe in 7mm mag.
Its a backup to my Tikka T3 in 25-06. I'm wanting a .257 Roberts ackley improved next I think just to be different.
Vamint rifles in the stable include a Savage 12FVSS in .22-250, another 700 in .243, older Savage .22hornet, Savage .17hmr, CZ American in .204, S&W M&P15T AR in 5.56, quality glass on em all. I like my p-dogging.

i'm pretty nerdy, but i also like to do rough-tough stuff, like drink too much beer around the campfire or wheel the toughest trails around in my built Jeep Cherokee.

I also play a lot of chess. :D The jury's out.

I was called a nerd quite a few times...but it only took getting my fiance out to try it once and she now has her own metal detector and usually joins me on my outings.:D

I'll betcha I'm one of the most UN-nerds here

I own a small junkyard, hunt, fish, and I HATE to be indoors!

plus I was quite the player with the ladies in my younger days, and I try out my crazy skills from time to time (much to the horror of my wife of 6 years)

my wife is always a little bit concerned when I'm detecting at the beach, as I'm a very good looking guy & say "hey baby" to any fine young lady that might cross my path

Also quite modest too :D

Sticks and stones..... When name-calling starts, I reckon there just might be some insecurities around. Yeah, the guys pants might get hiked up as we get a little older, but the women's hosiery gets rolled down around their ankles. Nerds are people too. :)

I've been called a lot worse things than a nerd or a geek. Call me what they want but I enjoy the heck out of this hobby and all of my other hobbies as well. Most people that are ignnorant make fun of others.

Swing that nerdstick!!!!
Joe

He is one of my best friends. My wife and his wife are great friends too. We were in Atlantic City this past weekend and we get a house at the beach together each year too. We usually hang out at least every other weekend if not more.

Glad you guys liked the video. I posted it here before and some of the long time detecting guys didnt like it. It is just a joke and Ed pokes fun at so many things.

I remember watching that video...funny as hell! Some of these guys here don't have any sense of humor! :gottaluv:

I don't really care if I'm considered a nerd or not. As it pertains to this hobby, I actually prefer it. There are a finite number of old targets in the ground and the fewer people looking for them, the greater the chances I will find them.

Haha I mean it might look kind of nerdy while you're detecting and I do have a lot of nerdy interest like history and technology but If they seen where I grew up, where I hang out, and who I hang out with I don't think they would consider me that nerdy, at least I hope not but I mean I play hockey, baseball, paintball, mountain bike, target shoot, work ok my Mustang and Jeep and stuff so I'm not a total nerd...I hope. My last gf actually dumped me because I wasn't nerdy enough which I guess could be good or bad depending at how you look at it.
