Amazing CW camp found!!

Those buttons are in great shape. Buttons are some of my favorite finds. That has to be one of the greatest spots to hunt I have ever seen. Congratulations on more great finds.

Buddy, that West Point Cadet button is a real sweet find! From your variety of finds, looks like both infantry and cavalry were in the camp. Are these the same troops that were in your early war camp in the area, or had they mustered out and been replace by others? I don't remember if you had found state specific buttons on the early war site. Thanks for sharing the pics and keep us posted. GL & HH. Chip

For anyone interested, here are a few of the finds my digging buddy has pulled from the the camp. If you go to his channel, I think the two videos before this one are from the same camp

So we went back today and WOW. My digging partner dug one of the best relics I've ever seen.

It's an I.D. name stamp, it reads- "CORP.L. W.J.DAY. CO. I. 13 M" It has crossed cannons on one side, and St. Louis in the center of a steamboat on the other. I apologize for my buddy's bad pictures

translation- Corporal William J. Day, Company I, 13th Missouri Cavalry

Here is his history (click VIEW RECORD at bottom): http://www.sos.mo.gov/Records/Archives/ArchivesDb/soldiers/Detail.aspx?id=S94059&conflict=Civil War

We now know our camp is late war, as Mr. Day was advanced to corporal on Jan. 1st 1865

Very rare thing to be able to absolutely positive I.d. A relic to a specific soldier. Really makes the war come alive! Keep pullin that good stuff out, buddy
