Hello My Friends!
Yesterday morning, I left to go hunt a few spots I've done well at in prior hunts the past couple of months. My realistic expectations were not great, but I knew I could at least dig a few oldies to make it a rewarding hunt. I had absolutely no idea I'd be digging silvers and wheats at the pace I was digging them yesterday! I started out at around 6:30 am, and my first dig was a Merc at 6". I love finding silver on the first dig! Shortly after that, I dug another Merc. And another....and another. By 8 am, I had 10 silvers coins, and about 20 wheats. Never before had I dug 10 silvers by 8 in the morning. After that, my frenzied digging pace slowed down a bit, as I moved to another area, and ended up digging another 10 silver and 20 more wheats in 5 hrs. I had a few double and triple wheat holes, along with 2 double silver dime holes. By 1:30 pm, I was on my way home. The 20 silvers yesterday puts me at 167 silver coins for the year so far. This bests my record year back in 2012, when I had 154 silvers on Feb 18th. This pace will tail off for sure. I'm running out of new "old" spots to hunt, but the silver and wheats are still committing suicide for me at my former spots. Pictured are the oldies from my yesterday's hunt, along with a rosie, silver earring, and 15 wheats from a prior hunt last Friday with a bunch of my buddies. Not shown in my pics are a bunch of early-mid sixties coins that were down close to the same depths as my older coins were.
Wooo Hoo, I just checked my silver coin database, and I surpassed the 3500 silver coin mark with this last hunt! It took exactly 7 full years of hunting to accomplish this, and over 98% of the silver coins were found with my Explorer SE, which I still use today in the turf!
Thanks for looking!
