Hello My Friends!

Yesterday morning, I left to go hunt a few spots I've done well at in prior hunts the past couple of months. My realistic expectations were not great, but I knew I could at least dig a few oldies to make it a rewarding hunt. I had absolutely no idea I'd be digging silvers and wheats at the pace I was digging them yesterday! I started out at around 6:30 am, and my first dig was a Merc at 6". I love finding silver on the first dig! :clapping: Shortly after that, I dug another Merc. And another....and another.:extrahappy: By 8 am, I had 10 silvers coins, and about 20 wheats. Never before had I dug 10 silvers by 8 in the morning. After that, my frenzied digging pace slowed down a bit, as I moved to another area, and ended up digging another 10 silver and 20 more wheats in 5 hrs. I had a few double and triple wheat holes, along with 2 double silver dime holes. By 1:30 pm, I was on my way home. :drive: The 20 silvers yesterday puts me at 167 silver coins for the year so far. This bests my record year back in 2012, when I had 154 silvers on Feb 18th. This pace will tail off for sure. I'm running out of new "old" spots to hunt, but the silver and wheats are still committing suicide for me at my former spots. Pictured are the oldies from my yesterday's hunt, along with a rosie, silver earring, and 15 wheats from a prior hunt last Friday with a bunch of my buddies. Not shown in my pics are a bunch of early-mid sixties coins that were down close to the same depths as my older coins were.

Wooo Hoo, I just checked my silver coin database, and I surpassed the 3500 silver coin mark with this last hunt! :extrahappy: It took exactly 7 full years of hunting to accomplish this, and over 98% of the silver coins were found with my Explorer SE, which I still use today in the turf!

Thanks for looking!
Keep The Passion High! :goodluck:

Absobloodytootly outstanding! You had one of those days we all dream of, but seldom see. Big congrats on all the silver and the wheat's as well.;)

A well-deserved "attaboy" to you Dan. You are the master of the Explorer when it comes to turf. Hands down.

Question for you: Since you are SSSEEOOO tuned into advanced turf hunting like that, do you think that the 3030 would afford you any better results than the Exp. (or etrac or whatever) you've been accustomed to using ? I mean: If they are so supposedly superior in separation and depth, then ...... do you think you'd do any better in your type hunting ? And for purposes of this question, we'll assume lack of in-line probe isn't an issue or factor. Like: Assume for a moment that an in-line probe WAS available. Then do you think switching to a 3030 would up your takes ?

Thanks, Guys! Appreciate it! MetalGhost, it was immensely exciting to dig all those oldies yesterday! I had a smile of satisfaction from ear to ear on the road back home! :D

Fantastic hunt!

More great digging! Congrats on that nice pile o silver.

Congrats on a great day

You done real good. That's a lot of digging.

Wow! That must have been fun popping all of those silver out :-) congrats

WOW! Nice finds!

Thanks for the accolades, Tom!! The SE has become an extension of my arm! I'm One with it!! I knew I could count on you to ask me a question like you just did.... It's really hard to answer that question, considering I've only hunted with a CTX a small handful of times. I do like the CTX. However, it's really hard (for me) to forget about the lack of the inline probe...That would slow me down in my target recovery process, and I'd probably find less oldies after a day's hunt than I would if I had the use of an inline probe. Think about all the "extra" time spent fishing out all the different conductors in your plug, including deep, pointy iron. It's just too important of an item for my target recoveries and hunting enjoyment to forego for a handheld, all metal pinpointer. But...if the CTX could be used with an inline probe, I'd definitely buy the CTX...as my backup machine.....:p I'd still be using my SE until my faithful companion decided not to function anymore.....a very sad day indeed...:(
