XP D2 Warranty-Water ingress

Out of sight, out of mind right?

Some insurance if you suffer some damage during a storm you find out you need to bust a window out, insert a hose and cut it on for a couple hours to get the coverage. Tn seems to trust vague contracts. I hate that krap. Bought a new vehicle once. Salesman tried to be slick and write lease into it and said "Sign here" I said let me read that for an hour. So i says" This says Lease!" He says " I thought that's what you wanted!"

This topic (once again) sounds and reads like very defensive Deus 2 owners against very defensive Equinox owners.......

Welcome to the new FMDF. My Chevy is better than your Ford. My Bud is better than your Miller :D

My opinion, as a D2 owner, but strictly a dirt fisher, is that the warranty does not cover water ingress. To me, the language in the warranty is pretty clear. (Also note another off-topic gotcha -- everyone is talking about the 5 year warranty, but the battery warranty is only 2 years).

Now, IMHO, if they repair water ingress issues, they are doing so for PR/customer relations purposes, not because they have to. Time will tell when an actual owner has water issues and tries to get their machine fixed.

Its simple folks. If water ingress was covered, they would state so clearly, either in the warranty, or in questions to their customer reps.

Exactly. I own Whites, Fisher, Minelab, and XP water machines. I also have a Vortec 350 in a '56 F100 and a 4 runner. This brand stuff does not matter. Buyer confidence does. This secret handshake vague warranty stuff doesn't help some new guy want to buy something.

"But it has a 5 year warranty!" Yeah right. Not even close. All I'm reading is from guys who are lacking in reading comprehension and common sense. Bottomline is if it clearly isn't stated in writing , it doesn't exist. None of this wishy washy stuff they got out there now. A relative easy fix , but they haven't. Hmmmm.....

See where one was saying antenna and perhaps charge clip not covered with warranty.
Yeah. No bumper to bumper warranty on Deus 2. And likely not any other detector model either.
The warranty says all the charging components has a two year warranty. What do you charge the coil with? A charging clip.

You should just sell your unit. And then your worries are over.

Surprised some aint complaining the Deus 2 doesn’t dig your target for you.

I ask a legit question, you make a legit point, and the resident XP fanboy is on the verge of having an aneurism:D

I was literally trying to help you. The charge clip was to prove a good point someone didn't read up on the warranty themselves.

Ya, I know:)

I was pointing out just how offended and irate TN can get.

Why is it we have to keep responding to reported posts?

Enough of the name calling....

Anyone with a Deus 2 or Deus 1. Good idea to purchase extra charging clip. Without a working charging clip you are sol.
There is a good aftermarket one. I have been getting good feedback from actual purchasers/users of those.
Detecting doo dads is the place to buy.

I Need to order me one of those.

I have one of those. It shows the voltage going into the coil.
It basically came unglued around the LED area. I glued it back together and it works fine. It is still not particularly easy to attach to the two coils I have so I don’t think it is a vast improvement over the XP charging clip.

The warranty on the Deus II is not very clear on what it says. Some things to define it are smoky, cloudy, foggy and gray area. The way it is written it appears as though it was drawn up by a crooked layer, so if anything happens to it from water damage it is on you.

With the unclear wording they can weasel their way out fixing it at their cost.

It's been 3 days since I sent XP a support request asking about the water ingress warranty. I haven't received a reply.

You are going to wait a long time. I have three different requests in for answers. That was two months ago. Not one answered.

Given how shady the warranty is, how XP dodged the question when TNS asked them, and how they didn't take a few minutes to clarify their warranty policy on their website, I really wasn't expecting a reply. However, three requests from you and not one reply? Wow. Were they requests about the warranty or something totally different?

Xp Warranty says if machine is used disobeying manual instructions and damage results warranty doesn’t cover.

Same goes for Minelab warranty.
And this goes for non waterproof rated and waterproof rated outfits.

Go look.
I posted links of warranty.

Real simple.

Additional thoughts.
The warranty of Xp Deus 2 is written as it is. It was like this when folks bought their units.
Same with Minelab.

If someone did contact and starting asking questions.
Any certain situation was replied to via email. This would be in writing legally.
Aa phone call would be verbal and wouldn’t be worth a darn legally.

What I am saying is one could ask and assume certain conditions /parameters and a malfunction/damage resulted.
The warranty doesn’t speak to any particular conditions.
Rather says you follow manual instructions and have a problem warranty should resolve. You don’t follow instructions and have a problem don’t expect warranty to resolve. Can exceptions be made? Certainly. Up to manufacturer/service center.
I have seen reported incidents where exceptions have been made by some manufacturers. Like detecting rods run over, etc.

Cheers.

No, it is most certainly NOT "real simple". It's dubious, shady, and everyone can see that, except you. Heck, you didn't even question XP when they dodged your warranty question, nor have you mentioned that they didn't even take a few minutes to clarify their policy on their website, even though the XP rep mentioned something about not wanting their customers to be confused. So, why didn't they modify their warranty policy? They've had a few months to do something that takes a few minutes, and would have easily cleared up the confusion that the rep seemed concerned about.

Furthermore, you said," Warranty says if machine is used disobeying manual instructions and damage results warranty doesn’t cover"

Except, that has nothing to do with my question, nor does it address the fact that the warranty policy clearly states that water ingress is not covered under warranty.

Reply : " No worries , it's all good ! You should have an answer right at about 5 years"
