So today I traveled all the way to Hawaii.
Just for metal detecting well not really had a business trip and decided to take my detector with me because I used to live in Hawaii at a location that consistently given up WWII silver whenever I hunted it.
So from the airport I went directly to my little honey hole and within 20 minutes I got a weird penny but low dime signal. Decided to dig it and the first thing I saw was a reeded edge of a large coin. It must have been "on edge" in the ground to ring up like it did. I knew it was silver, silver in the area comes out very dirty with a patina of silver, but when I picked up the coin I knew I had a Morgan.
I quickly put it in my pouch thinking this must have been a joke. The coin was at about 4 in which is standard for this location because it has never been hunted AND because of the volcanic soil. Is is a 1921S. Great day, picked up three wheaties and a very interesting, I think it's silver, WWII Lieutenant Colonel rank with a pin on backing. I obviously don't have a way to test it but the tarnish and weight are what is expected from this honey hole.
Only hunted about 90 minutes... I was tired from the 5+ hour flight.
