First impressions...Holy Bleep! So I got it hooked up and fired it up to test...The thing will slam my wedding ring from tip to toe with vigor and improved depth...amazing all the way out or back, full length of coil...like a broom! I like the thought of improved coverage if nothing else...just that alone will allow me to cover more surface area in the same amount of time...

It appears well balanced, (I think the center mounting point was a good idea)...light enough for such a large coil so its manageable...enough momentum for a drysander to build up a hell of an arc...I generally cut a 12' swath on the towel line and allow the momentum to carry the coil though a 270 degree arc...I see no trouble managing that with this one...

It came with everything you see here, bolt, rubber grommets, one little velcro tie down, warranty card...I had a roll of yellow electrical tape and thought it would 'fancy' up my rig a bit. The NEL cable is heavier than the stock Garrett, its also a few inches longer, so a guy can throw a handy loop up at the top for breaking the rig down peacefully at that top knuckle, (especially since I got rid of the camloks years ago, just pop the detents and fold the whole deal in half!)...

The tones seem to be right on as well as the TIDS...I ran it over all sorts of stuff and there was no noticeable difference in what I'm used to from an audio standpoint....even the proportional audio..nice and crisp audio report...

About the only thing I would take issue with is the coil bolt that came with it is of a smaller diameter and threaded all the way to the weak little head...so I used the stock G bolt...I dont think I would trust this supplied one for heavy usage, heck, l use a heavier one than that on my F70!....

I'll get it out in the water tomorrow if I can wait that long and do a real World test in some familiar areas to see about target isolation techniques that worked with the stock rig....Funny thing, as I was building this up, a big fast storm came through and wouldnt you know it, THUNDER! I'll take that as a good sign for what awaits! Its gonna be GOLD of that I am sure! I dont see how you could miss it with this thing!

Hey CONGRATS! Mud. I think you and Woodbutcher are the first to get them. For sure, let us know how it does for you. I have the NEL Attack and love it. I think you're going to be happy with it.

Looks like a winner!! Yeah, I got that same coil bolt with my little NEL Snake coil. I used the stock one instead as well... I wouldn't even trust the NEL bolt with the tiny Snake coil, let alone that monster.

Looking forward to your report tomorrow!!

Nice shiny new stuff! Can't wait to see you pull even more yellow shiny stuff with that HUGE sweeper!!! Good writeup too! Hell, now I want one and don't even have anything to put it on...

You got a big one there fella! ;)

Man that thing will cover some ground. I got the NEL snake and like it I may get the NEL Hunter later. Let us know how it works out for you.

Nel thunder

Let us know how much more depth you get with this thing. With those sand bars moving every day, maybe this thing can reach down and grab those deep ones.

You've gone and done it now Mud  that thing is a monster brother  Bet all the big deep stuff will be running for cover :wow:
Hope you see some good stuff in the scoop brother

Nice, hear some awesome things about the depth those big Nels get! From what I hear you will love it!

Yeah, thats a big part of the idea here...plus, all my friends have a BIG coil! You know what its like out here, just plain miles of open sand with very few pings in between. A footrace in the Summer time to beat everyone else to the towel line product, whoever can cover most of it fast and productively wins....

In the water, finding a cut is cool, but as you get to the edge of it where the sand thickens up, the targets are quickly out of range on the stock coil...You know they are there, you just cant get 'em! That stock coil has its place though, and has found me a lot of gold, NO complaints there, just time for me to upgrade my gear to what seems to be working for my Buds.....

I'm gonna try this one in the trash, in the black sand slope, out in the water, up on the dry..I should have some decent feedback and inputs by Noon. I'll be using this thing all weekend as well...need to find gold with it to pay! Oh, Mr.N... I aint NEVER getting rid of that screwdriver!...

Size matters! My coil is bigger than yours!

Looks like I will have greater competition in our hunts. Looking forward to getting out with you on Saturday :D

When you said you were going to fancy up you rig with yellow electrical tape, I was thinking something more like this...

Ummm... without the leopard skin spandex of course.

You should be able to cover a lot of ground with that puppy Mud. Check a small gold ring, 1-2 grams, and tell us how it tests.

Nel makes some very good coils. I like the center mount, that's what make the coil feel as light as possible because of the balance.
I forget the garrett coil bolt size but its big. I think the ones on the explorers are enough for most coils....I think that's 5/16" size.
Good luck with that coil. I know I wouldn't want to have to swing it for very long, but you have some great ground coverage.
