On a family trip to Wisconsin and my amazing wife dropped me off at a site I've researched and took the kids to a playground.

Luckily with only two hours to detect I found my first Wisconsin silver. I know mercs are easy picking in many parts of the country but where I'm from in Texas I get a Merc once every two or three years.

They were not easy signals... Mixed with iron I used the quick mask feature on etrac to single each coin out from the scrap metal and found them all about 6-8" under fill dirt, in the original gravel that was once a parking area I suspect.

Cheers and happy hunting.

Those coins just exude Art Deco, in my opinion (which is a good thing!)

Thanks everyone. It feels good to have something to share with the forum!

Congrats!

What area in Wisconsin? I've been hunting here in south central Wis for 5 months with little luck and no silver. :(

Hey Grey - I found it near my brother's house in Walworth county. Near Genoa City. Hope you find something soon. Make sure you meet farmers and ask to detect the fields after the harvest. Good luck.

Jason I wish you would have contacted me before your trip up as I would have been honored to put in a little swing time with you. Walworth area has provided some great recoveries for me. Congrats on the Cheesehead Merc and a great visit to the Badger state. Trapper

Thanks for the kind words Trapper. We'll be back next year and I'll be sure to connect with you. I've done a lot of research on this area and glad I don't live here fulltime because I'd never get anything else done but following detecting leads. I love it here, simply beautiful country.

Take care.
