Back in the 70's/80's I recall there being plenty of metal detectorists at beaches and parks. They weren't all a bunch of bearded old farts with grey hair and aircraft carrier sized cars either. I used to watch them when I was, say, Metal Detecto's age and younger.and just a few years later I was doing it too. In fact, now that I'm a father of a 12yr old and a homeowner I actually have alot less time to do it.
