I got to hunt after work and before dark on an old home site in a bean field. The house burned down in the early seventies and there is still a heavily laden iron patch. The signals were close together so I put my Simplex in beach mode to eliminate some of the Iron targets. I have had success in heavy iron patches using beach mode. I dug a lot of targets and found a few nice relics and a 1917 wheat. My favorite finds for today are two flat buttons. We don't find many these in this area. Also found several early headstamps and a reins guide. Thanks for looking.

Nice finds. Buttons can be fun because there are so many different kinds.
I would bet there more there to be found. Good luck!

Those buttons look like they are in great shape, RR. I don't know much about buttons, but I like finding the old ones!

Congrats on the wheat, buttons and other relics. I believe the labeling on the button helps with dating it. Or so I've read. Good luck. Mark
