Had a bit of a dire outing over the weekend...
Three hours of detecting produced nothing tangible apart from a single musket ball plus the usual bits of trash...
As the light was fading, I headed back towards the car only to get a signal about 10 yards from it..It was a nice crisp 12 on the Nox, and I thought was going to be another bit of aluminium foil, so it was a nice surprise to uncover the cut half below about 7inches down..
Not sure how many times I had walked over this bit of ground in the past without finding it, but at least a dozen I would think...
The coin is a cut half of a Henry III voided long cross penny, and dates to between around 1250 to 1272....
