Default Nox 600 freshwater hunting advice.

If I can convince the wife to head to the beach on the 4th of July I would like to try some freshwater hunting. I will be hunting in dry sand, wet sand and in the water. Any advice would be helpful thanks!
I do believe since I will be digging pretty much everything that I am going to go with two tones. 50 tones drive me crazy

Yes I can run the 600 at two tone five tone or 50 tone. I thought maybe you can run the 800 that way also. But then again I might be wrong on that one.

Yes, all Equinox models can run 2 tone; in fact, 2 tone is the default setting for Field 1 on both the 600 and 800. Of course, you can also change any mode to operate in 2 tone on either machine by adjusting the Target Tone setting.

For that matter, you can select 1 tone for all modes using the Target Tone setting on both models, but I havenít experimented with that setting at all. Itís the default for Gold mode (only available on the 800) - and it cannot be changed for Gold mode using the Target Tone setting.

you can run your Nox 600 at freshwater beaches in Park or Field modes. No need to only use Beach modes since they are specifically for salt water but will work other places too including freshwater. I have used all six modes freshwater hunting. I prefer Park 1 or 2. I usually run in 5 tones so I can get an iron tone, nickel/gold tone, split zinc penny tone, copper penny/clad dime/silver dime tone and quarter/half dollar/large silver tone. Two tones would work fine too. I usually run sensitivity at 18 or so since I have very mineralized soil even at freshwater beaches. Works great and easily goes down to 11 inches.

Thanks Jeff! I'm anxious to give it a try. Large brim hat, Sun protective shirt, sand scoop and cooler packed.

Even if nothing cool is found it'll be nice to be out and see family spending time together.
