help on cleaning rusy things

i have a couple of iron artifacts that need serious cleaning, i have a book that i bought and says you should put rust remover on it, and sand it but i kind of want somthing easier.

iron cleaning

I use a solution called evapo-rust. It takes awhile but after soaking about a day you have to chip rust off. If really rusty you have to use over and over.
