Civil War button?

My son said right away - "Dad, this is a bent button and I see an eagle!" I didn't believe him and said we'll clean it up later...

Well, he's always right it seems. It's the front/cap off a button. Looks like a service button to me but this would be my first civil war artifact, so I'm a novice.

Can someone help me out?

Great Seal Button. I think they still make them today. I like finding them. Nice find!

Not Civil War though. Probably WW2. Just my guess.

Not Civil War. The Great Seal of US didn't appear on buttons until early 1900s. So, the earliest it can be is about 1910.

Interesting! Too bad it can't be dated, except for the age of the farm and other relics. Then again, someone could've dropped that Barber dime I found this year. [emoji2]
