Got out yesterday evening and got two silver rosies, a 64 and a 52. Also got 6 wheats and a General Motors Pontiac “Chief of the sixes” token. I’m on-call this weekend. This morning when I got to the site I dug a wheatie within 10 minutes, but got a call from work that I had to come in and fix something. So got in the truck headed back across town, got everything taken care of in about 35 minutes, got back in truck, got to the site and went right to the spot where I had dug the wheat earlier. I proceeded to dig 2 or three more, but no silver. After that I went over by a big oak tree and got a smashing 34-36 on the nox. It was very shallow and I’m thinking smashed can, but hoping it’s a silver dollar. Dug down and pulled out a nice copper belt buckle! Got a few more relics and another wheat then got a matchbox car (not sure if it’s an actual matchbox as I still need to clean it). I was starting to get tired and thinking about calling it quits when I got a scratchy 31-33 signal. I almost passed it up as these kind of signals are usually bent rusty nails. But the signal was giving good numbers on the X swing. Down about 5” was my only silver for the day; a 45 GW! I also got a little shield pin which I thought was silver at first sight, but it’s not…it’s marked Hong Kong on the back. This weekend’s three silvers puts me at 34 fty just 7 from my goal of 41 to beat last year’s 40.
