Hey everyone...

Here is my stash for 2017. Not too impressive when you compare it with the big guns around here but it's what I got as a newbie for 2017.

I see a lot of newbie's coming into the forums but I haven't seen any posts coming in so I thought I'd show mine to give an idea of what you can get on your first year out... or even better.

The first half of 2017 I was kinda lost due to the learning curve. But going into the 2nd half was when things changed for me and my good finds shot way up.

I could go on and on about chasing the iffy signals, gridding, research, etc but you all have been-there-done-that so don't need to explain.

I ended up with 57 silver coins of which I truly enjoyed giving much away to relatives and friends. I got more satisfaction by the looks on their faces when they for the first time held a Merc in their hands, over digging the coin myself.

I dug about 300 wheats which added more value to my skills and experience in going after the silver. I also got my first 1903 Barber Dime, a key date 1923-S SLQ and a 1946 English One Penny that kept it all interesting and motivated me.

I worked the heavily pounded city parks for the most part but I think I'm gonna start exploring outside of the box a bit, ie; road trips, relic hunting, etc.

I look forward to seeing all of your finds this year and I will definately participate as much as possible.

Happy hunting everyone and thanks for stopping in.

You had an awesome first year Kurt, congrats! I’m glad we got to do some hunting together and looking forward to hunting with you this year.

Congratulations! It looks like you had a terrific year. I see that you have a couple of bucket lister's of mine the barber and the standing liberty. Keep swinging Happy Hunting.

Wowza! That’s a “first year” man! And a cut Walker? It took me 7 years to find a stupid Stander! You sure are LUCKY!!
Really good hunting Kurt, having guys like you around crank the enthusiasm a couple notches higher. Being able to walk around and “see” underground for long lost valuables?? What the HELL? We should all feel like freakin’ SUPERHEROES! It is an unbelievably interesting hobby that I get pumped about every time I leave the house,I can tell you do as well.
Make sure and leave some coins for Jam and Greg to find or someone’s gonna throw a chop block sooner or later!
Great finds, you are a heck of a fast learner!

Hunting with you pushes me to my limits, which is a good thing. I look forward to more hunts with you.

Thanks... at this early point in my MD hobby, I have too many bucket listers and I hope that I can find em all

Nice finds ... I didn't do nearly as good....

Nah... I don't believe that... thanks for checking in.

Congrats on all the silver. You're a better person than me. I would never be able to give my silver away to relatives and friends.:p

But of course I wouldn't give away the gold if I had it. Seriously, I love sharing these coins with some of my loved ones. They appreciate em just as much as I do. They feel they now have a part of our history.

I gotta tell you Kevin.... your enthusiasm passes right on to me. On many occasions we hunt alone and somewhat become isolated and these forums remind me of the bar that we congregate to at the end of the day and share our stories. All of the shared experiences and teaching is what makes this forum so special.

Woah those are some GREAT finds for your first year, congrats!

Thank you so much !!!

That Minelab found you a fine amount of silver so far...that cut Walker is too cool! Congrats on all the other finds as well and best of luck in 2018!

Looks like you hit the ground running to me! You had an amazing 1st year. By putting time in, you have learned SO much. Apply what you've already learned to 2nd year, can't wait to what you have then. Good luck and I luck forward to future posts.
