Hello Gents.
Tiny fragment picked up yesterday, took an age to find.
Just stuck it in my pocket but nearly just chucked it because i thought it was a little metal shaving or something.
Sadly whilst extracting from pocket it broke, its very thin and very brittle.
Turns out its an old hammered coin from way back, this may of been cut in two back in the day and i think Doug and Pete have discussed that previously.
Or it may of just broke, although there is one straight edge on it so likely cut.
Trying to figure what it is from whats left and a Henry III is about the closest i can see. This would make it minted between around 1220 and 1250.
Maybe Doug or Pete can cast an eye over it.
Sad its broke but very pleased regardless.
HH guys.

Hi Brewser,

You are on a roll! You really should post something next to it for scale as I am not sure our American friends appreciate how small it is!

I can’t help with ID sorry, but just glad your persistence has paid off!

Regards,

Peter

Thanks Pete and a good point reference the size and letting members see in relation to something else.
So this is the fragment next to a 5 cent coin.
