I found an 1864 2 cent piece!

I still can't believe it, I NEVER find old coins! I was hunting in a modern park that I've only hunted once before and this rang up a solid 66 on my F70. I had just hit 4 or 5 clad quarters at 3-5" deep within 5' of the 2 cent piece. It was only about 3" deep. This is my oldest coin by far...my previous oldest was a wheat cent from the 20's. When I first got it out of the plug I thought I had some kind of token. What a surprise it was to see it was an actual coin. Here's some pics before and after cleaning.

Beautiful 2 center Toad! I’m still looking for one and probably will be for a LONG time. Those odd denom coins are just damn hard to come across. HUGE props for a great example of one! This is why we do what we do...:grin:

That is one of my favorite coins because the motto "In God We Trust" was first put on the 1864 2-cent coin. :research:
