White's Spectra V3 Field Reports

saving it up

I'll be getting the v3, dfx, or mxt in about a year (saving $100) per month....as a newbie i recently bought an ACE 250 and some accessories (headphones, sniper coil, ames trowel) and I'm hoping that after a year of digging I'll know enough to KNOW what a higher end machine will do and why I should buy one.

Spectra V3 & Vision
Thread.jpg

This thread is for current owners of the new White's Spectra V3 to share there experience and observations. If you have questions about the Spectra V3 this would be a good place to ask those as well. Lets keep focus on the subject matter and refrain from speculation. The goal should be to gain knowledge and obtain accurate facts about the Spectra and learn from others experience while at the same time being courteous of others observations, as they are just that. I will be moderating this closely and will remove any off topic post. Below you will find information and links to documentation. The quick Links will be updated on a regular basis.

Hello, and thanks for this thread. I’m a newbie, just purchased the V3i and intend to tweak this machine for my area as well as experiment with all the settings and build my own programs but first with the Discrimination/All Metal mode for depth, formally called AC/DC.

I started out with the factory C/J to become familiar with the detector, went to a local school using the standard 10” DD it came with and my ear drums almost popped out of my head from all the trash in the ground. I made no adjustments, stopped searching and purchased the Eclipse 6x9 elliptical loop to include the 5.3 and the 4x6 sharp shooter. I immediately installed the 6x9; started searching where I’d left of and was amazed of the difference between these coils without any adjustments. Not only did the 6x9 help separate trash better, I took home a pocket full of dimes/qtr’s other detectors missed. I found a clad qtr 8’’ deep (I just knew it was sliver) and the dimes were 6 – 7” deep on average.

Note: I used the all frequencies mode, plucked coins next to and under trash. I did not dig trash and @ my age the V3i is time saver, if the detector displayed a cion, that's what is was including nickels.

I hope I become of some value to the thread in the near future and look forward to reading your threads.

P.S. My wireless headphones were to tight also. I just bent the wire guides out a bit and they are very comfortable now. I know this thread was going strong last year but hoping to keep it going.

Thanks for the Bigfoot Coil Info

CyberSage,

I just had my new V3i delivered. Of course, after a drought in Colorado, we now have snow on the ground. I also have a DFX with a variety of coils, including the Bigfoot (a coil I live to use). I am glad that there appears to be some positive info about using it. I did scrape a path for the sun to melt so I can take the DFX and coils out and compare them to my V3i. I hate to buy any new coils. I was happy the DX-1 works with the V3i.
