My personal house project was on hold for a loooooooong time, but I finally sold another house I had and can get working on this one again. It's a colonial era house here in mexico, I roofed in a bunch of it four years back, the ceilings are 16 feet tall. I just love the arches coming down on original stone columns, the one with three arches coming together will be in the middle of the living room. It will be a very open concept house, polished concrete floors, etc...
I'm excited to get the guys working again!

Wow, that is super neat !!!!

When that is finished it'll look like you're living in a palace !

Just be careful everything is structurally sound as that is some heavy stuff !

Yeah that's some cool stuff there man. Like your hunting grounds....

Good luck on the remodel Zee. Would love to follow along so please update us :D

That is going to be a beautiful home when you finish buddy!!!

I have seen some the work you have done that you have posted here. You are a real craftsman!!

Can't wait to see pics of it once done. You'll have to do before and after of the place. You're work is cut out for you. Good Luck

update

Patio all cleaned out and another window and door opened and interior walls starting to go up. With a few of the workers in the picture you can start to understand the height of the ceilings. Slowly making progress but I like what I am seeing so far!

update

Still working along, but making some nice progress. Pool is blocked in, walls fixed and stuccoed, all electrical is roughed in, doing about another week of wall work and then the floors will start going down. Also, contracted for my solar panel system, putting a 3kw system up on the roof in a few weeks. Should be all wrapped up and move in ready by late june...

Zeemang,
Such a kind of projects is what gives a meaning to our life.
Keep up the good work - Mucha suerte y felicidad amigo !

Holy !!!!, Pablo Escobar would be proud.

Just curious of a few things:

-what's the square footage and acreage of the house/property?

-is the construction cost a lot cheaper there vs in the US? Less permits and red tape I presume?

-how are the taxes down there? Is there property tax?

-any pics of the property from further away? I really love those high ceilings and arches. What a cool project.

Swinglow,
It's downtown in the big city i live in, lot size is 345 sq meters, or about 3713 sq feet. Construction said and done will be just over 2500 sq feet. Construction costs are much lower labor wise but materials like cement and steel cost about the same as the US. Permits are not too bad, they are sticklers for historical houses but generally approve projects without too many headaches.
Property taxes are a JOKE, this place pays about 25 dollars a year!
I will be updating pics as it moves along, glad you guys like it.

Fantastic work !!!!

The solar panels are a real plus, that way you're not totally dependent on the power grid, I guess you could even have an emergency power generator to cover any rare times when it might be cloudy for a week as I'm not sure how long the batteries charged from the solar panels would last if you ran into an extended cloudy period.

Looking forward to the finished pics !!!!

Its a real talent you have there Zee...to see a diamond in the rough, and then get it faceted out! Thanks for the update and best wishes for the final reveal!
