I got home from work feed the animals, looked at radar on my phone and thought I might have a half hour before the rain would move in. So I grabbed my detector and walked down the hill and started hunting in the field between my house and the old 1800s house. She was my third hole. My second hole was a very large rusty thing. Maybe a foot in diameter. Not three feet for that was this large cent. A draped bust 1803 my oldest American large cent. This home site is strange. I have found nothing at all near the house but trash of all kinds. Most of my finds have been spread out and maybe 100 yards for the old house. I take them any why they come.

Nice find! Pretty awesome that you have a house like that practically in your backyard. I bet there are some good finds to be had near the house if you clear out the trash.

Excellent, congrats on the draped bust. For me a dream find. We just don't get LCs that old in my area. I agree with others, I would get in and clear all the shallow, loud targets, almost certainly there is some great old stuff underneath. The house is awesome, I would love to restore it and bring it back to its original grandeur. Good luck, Mark
 
Atta boy. They’re beautiful in any condition and to get the date is the cherry on top. In my opinion that is one of the most beautiful coins ever minted. Congratulations to you and I’m sure there’s probably more in there

Seeing as how you're in Arizona, don't you find it *rather peculiar* that you and I aren't finding as many LCs and colonial coppers as these east coast clowns are ? Doesn't that smell of conspiracy to you too ??

Lc's dont exist out here, heck in 12 years I've only found one Indian head, I would be happy with those. Dont they get bored finding lc's every time they go out. ? Ha ha ha.

We don’t find them eeevery time we go out! I went out after work today for an hour and didn’t fine any.🙁

I’ll try to find one tomorrow morning. I’ll have an hour before I have to start work on the farm.
