Ok Everyone, finally something worth posting. (Bonesquat says give lots of details, so here goes) I've been detecting about 10 years, but only seriously about the last 3yrs since buying my MXT. I don't get out as much as I'd like, and when I do, just find clad, little junk jewelry, headstamps, etc. (never found any Silver coins) My house was built in 1840. I have 10 acres. I have hit it pretty hard, and mostly nails and iron junk. Today I wanted to detect, but so hot and humid, decided to wait till evening. Wife (NYKelly) grabs her Ace 250 and is hunting near our driveway. (our house sits 400 feet off the road) I walk out our front door and slow down to ground balance. About 40 feet from my house, I get a very faint +86 VDI quarter signal. (showing 5 inches) So I dig my very first 1908 Barber. I almost fainted. You guys are right, they come out of the ground so bright, I was shocked.(and yes, that scratch is from my Lesche) I rescan the hole with Propointer, more beeps. Out of same hole pops this 1920 merc. Stand up and start swinging, another faint signal about 12" to the right.(VDI shows penny) Dig my 1st coin from the 1800's. An 1886 Large Canada Cent. Stand up and swing, faint nickel signal between the 2 holes. Out pops this 1916 Buffalo. Mosquitos and darkness set in, so have to rehit tomorrow. These are all first's for me and feel very proud to finally join the ranks. Thanks for looking and hope I don't mess up the pics....Curt:grin:

Big congrats! All those firsts in one plug and in your own yard!Bet there's around.

I know what you mean by something worth posting.....Good finds man!

I bet that made your day! :clapping:

Congrats on all the firsts! Keep at it theres got to be some more beauties waiting to be found.

And best of all,you don't have to get permission:laughing:Nice haul! Now you know the targets are gonna be faint signals.Sadly i'll dig pennies from the seventees that deep here. The sand lets the silver sink too fast. Now you just got to start night hunting to beat the heat.

Thanks everyone. I almost posted this in eyepopping, because it was to me. I will be excavating a small area there.(I can always reseed in the spring right?)....Curt:grin:

Wow, great pocket spill..
Doesn't that D mint mark boost the value on that half dollar?? Maybe more waiting.. love the house..

Wow, those are some awesome finds and even better coming from your own yard! If my house were built in 1840 and I had 10 acres, I would be doing a lot of staycations!
