Back in February I hunted a sport field next to some old mill houses and found quite a few coins but didn't cover the whole area, so I went back there on Saturday to hunt the portions of the field I didn't get to the first time around. I hunted for 2 hours and 30 minutes and dug 51 coins with a face value of $7.79. Nothing silver and the oldest find was a 1940 Wheat cent in rough condition.
I hunted closer to the buildings this time and apparently that's where the kids play because I dug 4 toy cars and a cub scout neckerchief slide.
The river on the side of the field was running higher than normal because of all the rain we've had recently.

Starting the season with a bang Ed. Well done. I agree that place has to have some deep silvers hiding there. Go gittum my friend. :waytogo:

My typical clad hunt nets me about two bucks! You've found a really good spot for clad, but there must be a couple of silver dimes or a Sterling silver ring in there somewhere! Don't give up!

Nice return for a 2 1/2 hour hunt D4C. Congrats on the clad an cars. I like digging cars, especially the older ones. Good luck. Mark

Many of my hunts net me only a couple of dollars in clad these days. If there's any silver coins or jewelry left in this field, I haven't put the coil over them yet but I'm going to be back there again next hunt. I was talking to one of the locals and he told me that years ago the field was covered with five of those mill houses which were eventually demolished to make room for the park so that could be why there haven't been any silver coins popping out of the ground for me.

Thanks Mark......It's not unusual to dig a car or two on a hunt but I can't remember ever digging four of them in a single hunt. The oldest one in this bunch was only 1986 and the rest of them were from 2005-2009.
