Ive always been curious if people have been able to clean up old pocket knives to the condition where they once again open.

obviously i know that the was steel/iron deteriorates in the ground would make the actual functionality of the knife too weak and brittle but the mechanism of old knives would be cool to get working again.

electrolysis? wd40/other chemicals? many combinations of the two?

not hopeful just curious about others experience

I've never had any luck in getting pocket knives to open. I usually soak them for weeks in WD-40, to no avail. I'd latch on with two pairs of vise grips (or put the knives in a bench vise), but the vise grips don't have enough hold power to open them. Curt
