Official Forum Wide 2023 Clad Totals = $7,588.36

I didn't start my metal detecting adventures until October of 23' therefore I don't have much to contribute. My totals if no mistakes is $43.23 including 51 junk zinc pennies.

$7332.82 + $43.23 = $7376.05

I got a whopping $5.88 + $3.03 from the washing machine. Total $8.91. I missed part of the year with a fractured ankle, so I may have the smallest total at this point.

$7529.14 + $8.91 = $7538.05

What is everyone's take on the total clad count of $46,746 in 2012? Looks like declining totals from that year on. More detectors so less clad to be found? Fewer people carrying change? People not losing change as often? A combo of all of the above?

Like you said, I think it is a combo of all the above.

Also when I started doing this thread 13 years ago I think FMDF had more participating members.

2012 was a bit of an anomaly for sure, but the amount have really dropped of in the last few years.

One thing I have noticed we are not getting as much participation from other countries. We used to input from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the like. Those places have (had?) those large dollar amount coins! Japan was another place we had more participation.

My season of 2023 was cut short from a work accident at the end of August .
Degloved my right ring finger and half of it was amputated.
( My swing hand & I'm right handed)
Still out of work 5 months now...

I found $50.31 in clad
7538.05 + 50.31= 7588.36

Less people detecting on land, less people on this site, inflation making clad useless, more junk covering up clad. Filters? I dig all the clad I can in case it's an older coin or silver jewelry.
