MTHA (Massachusetts) 2023 Open Hunt OCT 7th

Announcing the 2023 MTHA (Massachusetts Treasure Hunting Association) ANNUAL OPEN HUNT at Houghton's Pond in Milton, Mass.

Date: October 7, 2023 (Saturday). Check-in at 9:00-9:50 AM, First Hunt at 10:00 AM (See Hunt flyer on page 2 of Registration form at link below)
Price for the FULL DAY (includes Morning Hunt, Afternoon Hunt, Fun Hunt): $100. This is $25 less than last year's hunt.
Headcount Limit: 100 hunters - (Registration opened this weekend and folks are signing up already)

Once there, you can register and pay online OR print a registration form to complete and mail to the club's P.O. Box

Besides our member registrations and other Massachusetts hunters, we are getting several out-of-state registrations for the October 7th Hunt.

So far, we have the following states represented:
~ Rhode Island
~ New Hampshire
~ New York (2)
~ Utah (2) their third year attending

We usually have a few from Connecticut, but have not seen any YET.

Thanks Jeff. Rain gear is called for at the hunt tomorrow. Will also be covering my XLT's speaker holes with clear packing tape, as I don't have a rain hood for the control box. Hope to post a few photos of the hunt soon.

Well it was "touch and go" for today's hunt, and a weather-based decision was made to combine the morning hunt and afternoon hunt into one BIG morning hunt, by seeding the beach with all the silver, clad, and prize tokens, as well as all 15 of the tokens allowing their finders to advance to the "Two Gold Coin" hunt after lunch.

The rain held off until just before the start of the Gold Coin hunt and even then wasn't that bad.

We had close to sixty hunters on the beach. Besides me, I'm aware of only two other FMDF members who were at today's hunt; VMC1161 and Crossmod and his better half. Nice chatting with you both !

Yours truly, won the door prize drawing, a nice, framed display made by one of our generous members, Bill S. It was a club patch, surrounded by four Eisenhower dollar coins, two 1-ounce .999 Silver private mint coins and two half-ounce .999 Silver private mint coins.

I hope to get some photos to post here soon from out members, who acted as unofficial hunt photographer.
