Well, I finally had some luck with my new Equinox 600...found my first coins. Nothing to write home about, but I'm happy because I'm starting to learn where certain coins show up on the machine. Oddly, one of the pennies was up around a 26-27, which did seem out of place when compared to the other five (closer to 20-21)...just goes to show, I guess.
Anyway, I'm loving the new detector...well worth the $80 I had to spend.

$80 is a great inexpensive way to metal detect. How'd you get that unit for that price? I've heard that the Equinox 600 is a great machine. Nice finds BTW.

I had some "points" on my C.C., and then the unit went on sale. Between the two, I only had to pay $80. Couldn't pass up the deal.

Congratulations on your first coin finds. Incredible deal on the 600 too!

FYI:

That one coin number isn't odd. Target identification on metal detectors is calibrated to a coin sized object at about 3" depth. Numerous other factors will determine ID. In fact, all nonferrous objects will eventually ID as ferrous, when they reach the detection limit.
