I walked the river path and was getting skunked and decided to go into the open areas. Saw an open area at the bottom of a hill (which I am finding is a great spot to hunt). Tons of hits and not much time. Only dug 44 VDI plus on the Legend. 2 dog tags, small junk ear ring, bunch of quarters, dimes and nickels. I will be going back to that park when the weather breaks next week.

I'll keep on swinging.

Nice find Mark! But by digging only 44VDI plus you would be missing gold rings/jewelry that fall in the 19-39 range. Just saying.

Steve

Good going Mark. Not many people carry those anymore. I was hunting a disc golf course a couple years ago and came across a seven dollar spill. They were right on top and bright and shiny. Had to be dropped within a day or two. That park will be good to you.

I know I was in a hurry and wanted to see if there was any coins to be had. There was and I will be going back.

It's a small park in Birmingham the richest city in Michigan, 4 miles up Woodward M1 from me, these people knock down a house for 1M and put a 5M house on a city lot. More money than brains. Both which I am lacking. I will be back there SWINGING.

4 miles up Woodward M1 from me,
Hey Mark you live near Woodward Ave.? Back in the day the place to go on Saturday night was 8 mile and Woodward. It was cruise night there and all the hot muscle cars were there struttin their stuff. Probably not any more though right.

I live just off of Woodward, the 3rd weekend of August is the Woodward Dream Cruise and there are literally a million people and 1000's of badass cars on the street.

Oh very cool. Cool story, One of my friends bought a 1948 Anglia stock. Had this tiny little four cylinder in it and sounded like a sewing machine when running. Cruise night came and he drove that to Woodward. Base of operations was a McDonalds and everyone would just drive through so they could show off their cars. If you wanted a race you would choose your opponent and stop in front of them and rev your engine presenting the challenge. They would pull out on Woodward when traffic cleared and commence to drag. My friend pulled up in front of a tricked out Vet and revved his engine. Long story short the Vet smoked him bad. Well his Anglia disappeared and we ask him where it was at. "Oh I blew the engine and I'm rebuilding it" Few weeks went by and we were at the McDonalds when here he came with the little car. It looked different but couldn't quite place it. Tires and wheels were larger, and it sat lower. He pulled up in front of that same Vet and threw down the challenge. Vet driver just laughed and waved him off. He challenged again so they pulled out on Woodard. Vet revved his engine, and it sounded great. My buddy reached down doing something and then revved his. The sound was defining! The look on the face of that Vet driver was priceless.:jawdrop: When the flag was dropped the front of the Anglia came off the ground and he went past that Vet like a rocket sled. He rebuilt the engine all right. He dropped a 427 in it. That car was turned into a trophy winning Dragster.

Congrats on the nice clad haul and Presidential dollar coin Mark. I have only found 2 in the time I've been in the hobby. However my sister grabbed me a 2007 GW dollar out of a coinstar last week. I recently watched a video on all those big old abandoned house's in Detroit now owned by the city. Are you able to hunt those or ??????? Good luck. Mark

I've tried but was quickly approached by the locals, just not worth it to me. I do historic renovations and a lot of my work lately is in the Brush Park area https://www.detroitnews.com/picture...27/detroits-brush-park-then-and-now/76450980/ , Palmer Park area, and Sherwood forest neighborhoods.

Wide open spaces like the golf course, yes. But close quarters in dilapidated ghetto neighborhoods, not unless I'm hunting with a group. The risk is not worth the reward in certain areas.

WOW! I see why you like to hunt down there. My God! those places are both very old and very big. Hunting there would be over the top awesome. I can only imagine what is buried there.:jawdrop::waytogo:

The house to lot ratio is very high, then they back fill the hole. Dirty fill. There is so much trash in the ground, it's very hard to find coins from my experiences.

Went back to Birmingham today with some more time and went all metal..BAM. Hardly any junk, but got a gold ring, sterling heart, bunch of change, a dog tag, a button(was deep) and a coin from New Guinea, a 2 Toea (like whatever). Fun hour of swinging.
