Are older White's detectors worth buying? Are they inferior?

Hey guys' I picked up this brand new/old Whites 5000/D on ebay for $65. As a child I remember going out with my father and his brothers around schools and swimming arias we all had a blast and found some awesome finds with the whites detecters. anyway this unit has never been used it came with books and case keys for case and all . Sure brings back some good memories. And hope to find some good finds what do yall think

Killer score. I have one that was licensed and sold by Sears. It is like brand new. An old school mate called me up and asked if I wanted it. She said it was her Dad's but he passed. She said he bought it new to find a ring his wife had lost. They found the ring, he put the detector away and it has never been touched since. It works great.

Those detectors were way beyond their time. Although bulky they are a very capable detector. With practice, you will find it can compete pretty well with today's units. Very nice score indeed.
