So normally am one of those people who they don't bother. Even when the bite, I don't itch bad and it goes right away.

This morning I tried to get out before the heat, and I was covered. Killed two on my arm with one swat! I could not stay out, was eaten alive.

Need some sun and wind!

I hear ya, I'm down in Ga. and I have this New spot in the woods can't stand it for more than 30-45 minutes. I don't know about your skeetos, but here their the size of hawks....:gaah:...... :run1:....... :gunbandanna:

Yeah they were brutal earlier this season. We had family down for the weekend and as soon as the sun went down, we were literally chased inside.

I built a bat house but its still vacant. Hoping this time next year there will be a family in there to take care of the skeeters.

The OFF clip on thing work's great :)

Unfortunately, the bat populations in the U.S. are being decimated by a bacterial disease. The chances of any bats filling your bat house might be slim. keep us posted.

For me here it is Noseeums and deer flies. Listerene actually seems to keep them away for a while.

Salt water marsh mosquitoes

OMG. Just got back from a wonderful gulf coast vacation to Cape San Blas and the St Joseph Peninsular, but after the first day we learned to run back inside after sunset t get away from the blood sucking bat sized mosquitoes.

I was wrong I assumed that our mosquitoes here was as bad as any. The worst ones last week were along the bay, in the salt marshes they are 4-10 times larger than the little ones with striped legs that I see around here.

We were trying to catch crabs at this amazing park with a 800 foot boardwalk out to the wading spots on the bay, when the sun set and I turned on a flashlight. It was truly scary about 15 of them landed on my wife about 90 seconds after I turned the my headlight on. They were about 3/4 inch long. Maybe these are similar to the ones people around the great lakes and extreme northern states complain about? I had no idea!

The little ones with striped legs are Asian Tiger Mosquitoes. They bite during the day and rarely after dusk. They are primarly container breeders, tires, tree knot holes, corrugated pipe, ect. Im battling them now, they are aggressive and I hate going in my backyard cause I get tore up! Im trying to eliminate all possible breeding spots in my yard and talked to the neighbors bout it to do the same. I got 17 bites grilling burgers tonite, I hate mosquitoes! Cleaning my gutters tomorrow!

Those Asian Tiger Mosquitoes seem to have a nastier bite than the usual mosquito denizens. The bites usually stay with you for days. And nothing seems to relieve the itch.

Dumping stagnant water helps but I just read where they can fly for miles. Also less bushes and weeds helps. I am still having nightmares about the saltmarsh ones.

What type of deet do you use? I use military grade deet- it's 25%. Works like a dream, use it when we bike ride the swamps out here and I have yet to be bitten by a mosquito or yellow fly. Good stuff, will turn you inside out if you accidently inhale it though!

Good point. That night all we had was the weak Skintastic off family spray.(5%deet) I have some sportsman 30% deet Off and used it later, but I still remember having to lay low (lights off, stay in a breeze) or get bitten, but at least it helps. That stuff made sometimes makes my arm numb, I thought I was having heat stroke or a heart attack since it was in one arm, then realized it was the spray.
