What do you think of Gary on Oak Island?
That program is the equivalent of a soap opera on TV.... they are never going to find anything unless they plant it... it amazes me how some believe that show... I guess if you have nothing else to so with your time, you can throw it onI took pic with him on the beach here in Florida, he was out there swinging along side me. Super nice dude. Its my avatar photo.
What he says and does in real life most likely is much different than what the producers tell him to do for the show and he has no control over the editing.I get really annoyed with him and his "bobby dazzlers". He thinks he's the greatest detectorist to ever pick up a coil, and he thinks everything he finds is the find of the century. Every thin flat piece of metal he declares is a "coin", even when it's not, like the rectangle piece he found a few weeks ago that clearly was not a coin.
I love it when he's wrong about something, you can see his face turn red, and he tries to justify himself by saying "well it's something" Well duh Gary, everything is "something".
And he NEVER digs his own holes as if he's some high and mighty King too important to get his hands dirty!
I think he's a damn joke with his 48 inch coil, finding stuff that any 10 year old boy could find with a $300.00 detector, and I think the show would be So Much Better without him.
Did they "plant" the road in the swamp? That program is the equivalent of a soap opera on TV.... they are never going to find anything unless they plant it... it amazes me how some believe that show... I guess if you have nothing else to so with your time, you can throw it on
I don't know what you are talking about... I don't waste my time on that show... I tried it in the beginning but soon realized it was a show just to string people along like most fake reality shows...Did they "plant" the road in the swamp?
You don't waste time watching the show but feel its necessary to to comment on how bad it is?I don't know what you are talking about... I don't waste my time on that show... I tried it in the beginning but soon realized it was a show just to string people along like most fake reality shows...
Nothing wrong with sharing my opinion...You don't waste time watching the show but feel its necessary to to comment on how bad it is?
My wife and I use it as a drinking game now, we'll watch it but we're looking for a particular phrase word or action like Templars or garden Shaft or let's call Rick after we find one little piece of bent metal. And what we'll do is every time they say that word or phrase or call Rick we'll take a drink and we've had some pretty wild nights doing it that way. But it's about the only thing I think that show is useful for. That program is the equivalent of a soap opera on TV.... they are never going to find anything unless they plant it... it amazes me how some believe that show... I guess if you have nothing else to so with your time, you can throw it on

My point has been missed.Grizz, Be patient with the "locker room talk" here. Boys will be boys.
But to answer your question, about various "salacious details" : If you gave me enough time & imagination in my own backyard, I could .... likewise .... find clues to treasure . That would amount to no different than O.I.'s asserted proofs.
For example: An unexplained depression I found in the middle of my yard. The curious symbols (the round paver stones, the rectangle fence planks). The out-of-place rocks at 10 ft. deep (our septic tank). A square nail I just found (wow !!). And so forth. And I can find all sorts of reasons from the history book of why a pirate treasure must be in my back yard : That Monterey, CA was a stopping spot for the returning Manila trade galleons ! That the Spanish capitol location is a mere 2 miles from my home. And my neighbor has squinty eyes. And I saw strange lights at 2am a week ago. Etc... etc...
Everything On O.I. has benign and more-plausible explanations. And no, it's not on the skeptic to "explain away" all the supposed proof. No more so than it's on you to explain the "proofs" in my backyard. All that anyone needs to do is (drumroll) show a treasure ! But the type things this O.I. story has, can be construed and dreamed up for ANY location, in the entire USA, when given enough time & imagination.
And no, I do not accept as "proof" to point to the legend itself (the boys, their rowboat, blah blah). For the skeptic to ask about the legend and say "says who ?", and the proponent points back to the legend itself, as proof of itself, is known as "circular reasoning".
....
If you're going to be critical of the show, you should, at the very least, be up to date on all the episodes.....
