Yesterday we had some heavy rain, so today I detected my favorite demolished farmhouse location for about two hours. This is my 7th visit to this place since January. I found some brass junk for my scrap metal bucket, a very green early wheat cent (1910 or 1916?), and the best find of the day, a Coca-Cola swastika watch fob. Online searching told me that this watch fob was produced in 1925 and has some collector value.

Wheat cent for scale. Text reads, "DRINK COCA-COLA IN BOTTLES 5¢ SCHWAAB MILWAUKEE."

Very cool find. Never saw one of those before. Congrats, and on the old wheat as well. I love digging old wheats, especially the nice green ones. Good luck. Mark

What the heck?

The swastika is an ancient symbol and was used in the early 20th century as a sign of good luck. This was of course before Hitler and Nazi Germany adopted the symbol and associated it with hatred. This Coca-Cola piece has nothing to do with the Nazis luckily, seeing that it was made in 1925.

Very cool find. Yep, it was originally a symbol for good luck. I found one just like it a few years ago.

Very nice. I think it's interesting when people first see the swastika, before they learn the history. Unique find, congrats.

To me it's kind of like when you retire the name of a hurricane that killed a lot of people and did a lot of damage. That symbol has forever been scarred. It needs to be retired until it is forgotten. I would hang on to my good luck Coke symbol though.

People lose it when they see a swastika. I got a real old good luck token from the world fair somewhere around here. Couple months ago we were selling WW2 items at a trade show. Thought a lady was going to assault me over a German dagger. She turned us in to the building manager. He says" I got to pretend i'm talking to you. Carry on!"

That's a hard one its so rare, I think a hard dusting with dry brush then warm museum wax.
That is a super cool find and would be a prominent display in any collection.
wow, be careful with it and congrats!

Thanks, it was very bent up when I found it, almost bent into a cube, but I was able to flatten it out without destroying it. I haven't done any cleaning to it besides removing dirt with water and a soft brush. I don't know if it has much value in its current state but I won't make any assumptions.

Cool coke thing, it's gotta be sellable, and I'm not a salesman or money lover.:cool3:

Yes, lots of Coca-Cola collectors out there. Might be my first collectible non-coin find, although I'm not sure how the dug condition would affect value.

Congrats on an unusual and rare find .

That's one unique find! Congratulations!

Thanks, a Coca-Cola watch fob is the last thing I expected to find, but that's the fun thing about metal detecting.
