Minature Knives
I have been a Silversmith for over thirty years. I used to collect knives (full sized) until someone stole my collection. I have my ideas but I can't prove it. I was raised on a farm and we made parts and tools when we needed them. I made my first minature knife out of silver. It's a whole lot easier than making them from circular saw blades. I do most of the cutting with a Dremel tool and seperating disks. If you don't own a Dremel, you need to get one. I grind them into shape and finish them with a lot of sanding and a final buffing. Right now the handles of antler, bone, or shell are glued on because I don't have anything that will drill holes in those saw blades. That stuff is hard! If I can find a way, I will use brass pins. I have also made a few full size knives too. They were in my collection that was stolen. It's actually easier to make the full sized ones. There is a Minature Knife Maker's Society. Their knives can get really expensive. I don't have the equipment that a lot of them have.
