The ring is from a 1918 2 French Franc. They are made by punching out the center of the coin leaving a ring. There are several articles about them online and there is one at the Military Museum in Huntsville, AL.

My standout find for 2014 is this JR Wood & Sons 14k signet ring with nude mermaids on the sides. I found it in the 1923 JR Wood catalog online.

I put it on ebay as is with an excellent description and listed my sources and slapped a ridiculous price tag on it. 3 weeks later It sold! :D

That looks similar to the one I found last year in the surf. It has naked ladies on either side but is a lot more worn down than yours.

This is one of my best ones. It was my first 1800's coin and is still my oldest. I would love to know the story of how this coin ended up in central Wisconsin

I would say my gold coin was probably my favorite find of all time while detecting!

Found in a Los Angeles park that I've found barbers, V's and Indians at.

Ive found a gold coin before. My ex wife owns the poison ring I found. So now I say the 24k chain from the beginning of last year takes the cake since it would take 4 gold coins like I found to equal the chain I dug in one hole:lol:

Sweet find . I'm still looking for any 1793 us coin have a 94 Liberty and a 98 draped bust ...would love to find a chain cent or wreath cent but a 93 Liberty cap will be fine.

Got permission in May to hunt the homesite of Daniel McGirts. McGirts was a Revolutionary War officer who became a turncoat and joined the British. After the war, he was banished to NE Florida where he had a plantation and then became a pirate.

Found these two items about 20 feet apart. The coin is a 1783 Georgis Triumphos (Tory's Penny). Minted in England to honor George Washington for winning the war (George Triumphed) since they did not know what Washington looked like, they used a bust of King George III who LOST the war.

The second item is a Victorian Lady's coin purse. Sterling silver overlaid with 10K gold, it was usually filled with rose petals or perfumed pieces of cloth and worn with a chain around the neck or waist. Valuable since the ladies rarely bathed back then.
