Best Day ever, still a little Shocked!**Update, please see new post**

Nice haul but I must warn you: if you don't fill those holes in that picture, you're going to start another civil war on this forum. I can't take another "fill your holes / no I won't " shouting match! LOL! :sissyfight:

:lol::lol: After the first finds, I excavated an area about 4feet by 4feet, bout 16" down. My wife came home that day and thought I was going nuts..... Nice what you can get away with in your own yard. Thanks everyone for the nice replies.....

Thats great how your finding it in your own yard . Just walk out the door and detect . When you get it all cleaned out , get a tractor and turn the ground for hopefully another awesome round of detecting . Just tell the wife its good for the soil and the grass .

What a great post! And a barber half! So sweet!
How many times did you walk over that spot with your detector in hand on the way to do a little hunting? Great story ! HH , Dew

Just tell the wife its good for the soil and the grass .

Ha , just went back and read the entire post again. Looking forward to the next update to this saga you have here. You may have only found the tip of the ice burg . :). Keep us posted , Dew

Well done, not sure how I missed this post years ago. Glad you found some awesome goodies out there. I remember my first few weeks of detecting my yard with the bounty hunter and finding the 1890 seated dime. That was definitely a shocker.

That barber half is sweet. With all those finds, there has to be a bunch more out there. I'd probably dig all the big iron signals, then go around the yard again and dig up any non-ferrous signals to see what else you can find. I've also wanted to excavate my yard too to see what else is hidden.

Looking forward to what else you can find on your historical land.

Sweet finds and in your own yard! Being a newbie to this forum I was not around for your initial posts but enjoyed reading them now.

You need to think of a good reason to bring in a cultivator and till your yard around your house to turn the soil - "Honey, I'm turning the leaves under to enrich the soil so the grass will grow better."

It must be nice to have a house with such a colorful history. My house was built in 1982 so nothing but roofing nails and zincolns.

Wow, nothing like sampling a little bit of everything. Congrats! Lots of inspiration there. Thanks for sharing.
