Went to an old baseball field today and the guy mowing told us that a couple of guys had already worked the area and there probably wasn't anything left. Well I worked a 30 foot area off the first baseline towards right field and I got 8 silver dimes!! An 1899 Barber at 9 inches, 4 Merc's at around 6 to 7 inches and 3 Rosie's at 4 to 5 inches. I don't know what machines the other guys were using but apparently they didn't have an E-trac. My second best silver day ever! :detector: Happy hunting to all! I love this hobby

Have you looked at the fields on any old aerial maps from the 30's? Some of those ball fields have been around for ever. Some times on the old maps they are in a slightly different location originally. Great finds!

I also had an experience like that. Went to a house built in 1820. Got permission, but he said that a friend had detected it the day before. I dug an 1832 caped bust dime and a 1853 large cent. I also do not know what type of machine his friend had.

Congrats! I stopped caring when people tell me a place has already been hunted. Most people are using toy detectors and don't know how to use them correctly anyway.

Where would I find the 1930's aerial maps? Internet?

New E-Trac owner here as well. Do you recall what FE/CO scores your finds registered on your unit? I've only swung mine twice thus far, but no Silver yet.

Silver will be from 12-42 to 12-47 just depending on how worn, deep and what angle it's in the ground
