This a chain cent I found last year. There were only 36000 of them minted & the first official US large cent. This is what I consider my best find so far. The obverse is almost unrecognizable but the reverse shows a chain with one cent.

I'll probably never top this. 1.8 carat, cushion cut diamond set in platinum.

This is quite a good thread, I really enjoy seeing all the wonderful finds people have made. Some sweet stuff buried out there. I have a couple items that I consider my best. I do both water and land hunting so I'll give my best from each venue: My best water find is probably this 14k diamond ring. Diamonds are real but I've yet to get it appraised, one of these days. My best dirt dig I'd say is my 1857 half dime, I was tickled pink when I saw this little cutie in my hand.

I know this isn't much compared to what you seasoned relic hunters find, but I found these 2 Civil War bullets a couple of weeks ago and they are my best finds and I am proud of them! Wish I could hunt with some of y'all sometime!

I like finding stuff that I never could imagine being so cool.. Stuff that I would probably never dig again or anyone else for that matter..

Here are a couple I like for the above reasons, my most valuable find is a 10K ring that might be worth $90 (boring!!)...

Man, I started going thru this thread and can't stop looking at all the tremendous finds on here! Just incredibile to see and read the stories behind them! As I am at only 3 Silvers this year, its not been a good year for the General so far. (Last year I had almost 40 Silvers) But....among those 3 Silvers is one of my two favorite finds of all time! Found this earlier this year in a field where we have been thru it time after time. Several of us had hit Silver, but not me. Pulltabminer had hit several Mercs alone! But not me. But guess what? This day belonged to the General! Lordy, I was so excited that day! Still takes my breath away when I look at it. A Standing Liberty Quarter with no date. Super thin! The other was a '39 Walker Half that took me forever to pull out of the ground. Near a grade school that again, we had hunted many times in the past. That day is forever etched in my memory. Called everyone I knew before I even got back into my car! Can still remember the hair on the back of my neck standing up when this finally popped out of the ground! Mama Mia!

That is the coolest find I have ever saw!!!!!!

I thought so too. Used to have several pictures of it. Until my computer crashed. My wife wouldn't let me hold it even to take it to the antiques roadshow to have it appraised. I took it to a jewelry store and they were wanting to buy it instead of my gold rings. Jeweler said he never saw one like it before either. Someone had dug a deep hole to plant a shrub. This was shallow where they had spread the dirt out beside the shrub.

Thanks brother!!

I thought it was a soldier when I dug it up all covered in clay and was very happy... I was even happier that it turned into an indian as I was cleaning it off....
