After I bought my ames true temper garden tool, I noticed that sharp dangerous point on the side of the blade, I though if my hand slipped...Ouch...
I took a file to the pointed edge, and rounded it off.
I think it is alot safer now without that sharp line cutter point on the side.
Take a look...

I am on my second Ames digging tool, and I love them.
When they are new, I agree that you better wear your gloves.

I have gotten some pretty nasty gashes from them though.
They are so sharp you won't even know that you're cut until you see
yourself dripping blood.

P.S. Lowes sells a sheath made by Corona that fits them very nice.

Ace hardware sells the version with click/lock in sheath. its $10 more and the flat top is metal. On amazon as well.

That why I tried to make it safer, at least on the sharp point turned up at your hand.
I haven't injured myself with it yet but I bet it will be nasty.

Thanks, that is nice to know.

That is the first thing i did with mine after it cut my thumb through my glove,I also cut the tamp end off and rounded it.
