Congrats! Its a fun project to do, but can get expensive. Last one I did was $80, and some connections can run you double.

Thanks it is very fun to do for sure...its almost like catching a fish with a lure you made yourself lol this project was very inexpensive... The box cost the most at around 18$, the bolts were 8$. I already had all other supplies. I saw that modded explorer that you sold that thing was awesome! HH
Looks good

Good rainy day machine too!
Thank you ! I didn't think about the rain :p good point!

Very Cool! Its a good thing to be able to work with your hands and R&D stuff up in the Winter! Keeps a guy out of trouble!
Mud

Thats awesome! I have a BHT4 as well and have been thinking about doing this also. How did you seal the headphone and coil connections into the box?

+1. I also wondered what you used, where you bought it and approx cost.

The "cable clams" that I used on my waterproof explorers work excellent, but are $30 each. So my boxes were $60, a clam for the coil wire and clam for the headphones brings it up to $120.

I also used a small diameter, 3" long PVC connector on a case, ran the wires through it, then filled it with silicone. It worked during initial testing in the bathtub, but one day in the sun at the beach and water got by the silicone.

It was fun, cheap and quick just like me

I had to cut the coil end off (plug end) and will have to do the same with the headphones. Then you reconnect them back in the box. They nuts I used were HEYCO waterproof ones. I actually stole the idea from groubdsweeper lol he did the same thing but with a tesoro compadre I believe. Let me know if you need any tips. Working in mounting it to the rod as we speak.

Heyco part number m3207 waterproof cable clamps. I found them doing some google searching but got the idea from a compadre mod. It was around 8$ but i bought three just in case. They only downside is having to snip the ends off and reconnect them. I loved that explorer you sold a little while back. I'm not a huge water guy but good to know that I have a machine when the situation arises thanks for looking!

What? no useless meter hehehe. just kidd'n. nice showing of Yankee ingenuity.

Thanks pnd the meter is attached to the plastic box that the guts came from ...that meter has caused mayhem from day one lol as a newby and not knowing better , I thought it was a depth meter hahaha:laughing: that was 3+ years ago now... Great way for an old starter machine to get some use instead of collecting dust....thanks for looking!

The advantage of using the cable clams is you don't have to cut the wires, that's what makes them worth the price...

With an explorer that would be worth it I'm sure ...that way you can always reassemble your land machine but with a 50$ bounty hunter it wasn't too much of a risk lol it works pretty good with air tests just gotta wait for open water  thanks for looking!

Still fiddling with mounting options but she is almost ready ,the zip ties are temporary and the box is being held by double sided tape ... I dobt want to make anymore holes so might use a JB weld or something along those lines. I'm very hesitant to cut some headphones ...they aren't waterproof but aren't an overly expensive pair either... I wont be diving and it will be used mostly in calm freshwater. Thanks for.looking!

Her name: Black Mamba haha

Nice I'm excited as the project is complete. I used JB water weld to adhere it to the rod. I guess we'll see how that will work out. But should be good up to chest deep anyway pretty excited as I'll be swinging a beast I created kinda so that means a little more to me thanks for looking!
