I have a few silver rings that the lawnmowers have hit. Do you scrap them, take them to a jewler, repair yourself? I would really like to fix them myself but not sure where to begin. Suggestions maybe?
I have seen magazine articles where people show how they have straightened rings out (not literally)
The process usually involves applying heat to soften the gold, but not too much !
I imagine it would depend on the value of the ring, and if it had settings.
From the land of the Bluenose...Stevie O in Tuscun showed me this one...use an old pool cue and a rubber mallet..works but be gentle! Happy hunting! 8)
i straighten all the bent ones of any kind using a ring mandrel and a rawhide leatherworking mallet. Just tap gently and try not to work it down the mandrel too much or you will split it.
