Hi Plymouth, the 2500 is a bit heavy but has some features if used properly make it a good machine. But it will have a learning curve as with some other machines. But nothing that you wouldn't be able to handle. It really shines in all metal. Ok if I can be of further help just give me a call Plymouth.
I've been using the 2500 for about a year and love it. Here in SC there are a lot of Civil and Revolutionary war relic areas and the 2500's all metal mode is great in these areas...it goes deep and I mean really deep!! It is a bit heavy (especially with the 12.5 coil) but I haven't had a problem using it for a full day. You do get a plus with the heavy weight and that is a solidly built detector that is tough. I would recommend getting the video from Garrett about it then deciding.
