If you used a slide rule instead of a calculator, would you have a metal detector that hunts in silent search mode?

Where in the world was that photo taken? Were you there? Did you talk to the guy? Is that a gold machine? (I'm guessing because the coil looks to be oval). Or is it a deepseeker?
