I recently made a electrolysis tank with an old 6amp 12volt battery charger and a ten gallon fish tank I took quarter inch steel bar and bent it to go a round the whole inside edge of tank with a small "tail" sticking out so the charger clip does not go in the water. Add the water. Put your peice in the middle suspended by steel wire and wrap it around any old piece of wood. Now I connected the red to the scrap steel bar and the black to the steel wire. Turn it on. NOTHING HAPPENS. This is where I add arm & hammer super washing soda. It acts as a conductor in the water. I add it slow until the charger reaches the amps I want. 6amps for rusty steel and only 1or 2 amps for brass or coins. I wouldn't use this on any expensive coins or pieces until u have experimented alot. Here's a few picks of some things I used it on. I wish I had a b4 pic of the eagle. it was a ball of rust. just check often with the little items and like I said. Coins or heavily patina d copper with ruin fast. This brass button took 3mins. The plate and eagle each were 24hours. the item is done when all the rust will fall off and is covered in a black film. thats when i wash it by hand with backing soda and maybe a brush but usually just fingers a baking soda. So basically experimenting with scrap or steel is the best way to go at first. And if your amps are dropping give a grind or wire brush to the steel bar because it attracts all the crud. If amps never got up add an extra steel wire down to your item. you really have to play around with it and it will be worth it. Its gotten me to keep a few things i would have trashed. Thanks for letting me ramble
