Yeah, a great little cherry picking coin shooter, but not going past 5 or so inches (in my dirt) with an old 7" coiled model "tuned up", so not much of a relic machine really.
You never mentioned a budget. Is a Compadre known for being a "Relic Hunter"? No, but it can certainly still find them. Is it better than a $69 Bounty Hunter, but not as good as a $600 Tejon? Most likely.
If a Compadre fit budget constraints, I'd pit it against any other detector in the same price range. Don't know why it couldn't be a "Relic Hunter", it's a metal detector, and many relics are metal.
