This may be a silly question but here goes . . .
We have lots of rivers in the south that produce small creeks and even smaller streams. Are these open game to detect? There seems to be no issues for floaters and kayakers to enjoy them so why not detectors?
Additionally we have a small ( in depth ) river flowing through the county that saw battles along both sides. One section the military park property goes down to the river for about 50 yards, is it protected.

In the days before air conditioning people got in the water where ever they could. The creek that runs through my small town is full of old swim holes and I have gotten a lot of old coins, tokens, buttons and buckles and even a small Gold ring.

Look for holes by bridges, lots of times the new bridge is near or on the spot of an old bridge or fording spot. Also in my neck of the woods folks would make little dams by stacking rocks across the creek that you can still see today.

There will be a lot of junk to so be warned, use a small coil and always scoop facing the current.
Good Luck!
