So here begins a journey. I picked up an old Excalibur 1000 on ebay. I knew it was in pretty poor condition and figured since I have some time and resources I would hot rod it and see what I come up with. My only goal is a modded, functional and reliable machine. it will also be personalized for me so some of the parts will be personal choice and there will be some things I made that I could have purchased for less. There will be other parts that I could have gone with a cheaper part. Most of the things I will do are not new and a shout out goes to OBN for his dedication and efforts in this area with the Excalibur line. I am lucky enough to have a machine shop in my garage so custom things happen very easily. The tough part is waiting for supplies to show up. So without dragging this out any longer lets get started.
I started out with something easy since I am awaiting parts to finish end caps as well install a new wire on the coil. I built a dive shaft from carbon fiber, I installed a compass as I really like the idea after seeing Digging rings machine on Youtube. I also went with a piezo switch for the PP mod. Turns out with a little machining the switch fits perfectly in a Hurst shifter handle and since I like cars too its a perfect selection. anyway here is the dive shaft mocked up. If you think it looks a bit long you would be right. I am 6'6" tall and have long arms so it is built to fit my reach. The nice thing is I had enough carbon fiber left to make along extension for hunting in the dry as well.
