Just picked this up for a great deal. Know very little about it but gets real old watching the guys with the PI machines digging buttons and bullets at 12" + while I dig nails at 2".
I have less that 2 months to learn this thing before my next trip south.
 
That's awesome! I've been looking around also, but I'm not sure I'm ready to drop that kind of money on a GPX. I may have to go the GP route as well. My buddy just got a GP Extreme and is learning to use it. Glad you found a good deal. Happy digging!
 
The GP3500 is still highly regarded down here in Australia. The last of the true analogue PI gold detectors. They are maybe a bit more prone to EMI than the newer models so the mono coils can be a bit noisy in urban areas.
Tune it in regularly (noise cancel) and maybe hook up a DD coil if EMI is a problem. Lovely audio and packs a punch for sure.
