Hunted Sunday at the old scout camp. Started early to beat the heat, and it really didn't get as hot as what was forecasted.
I met my detecting buddy. And after a few pull tabs and some zinc's we decided to try another area in the camp.....
A few wheats here and there... The he found a small scout emblem pin, then I found one...
He found a webelo neck tie slide then I found a wolf pack neck tie slide, he found another webelo neck tie slide, then I found another wolf....
The neck tie slides kept coming for me.... Two big eagle slides , and one arrow head type slide
But Tom bested me by locating a 1941 Washington

Funny you post this! I went to my old scout hall yesterday! It was burnt down in the early 90s! But i do recall in the 80s we buried a time capsule under the Land yacht & kayak shed, before the foundations were poured! That shed is also gone and replaced by a park with 2 foot of pine bark mulch and shrubs! I detected there for 30mins and found 2 burnt drink cans, and 3 burnt tops of food cans! No time Capsule! Congrats on your find

thanx for posting. Good pix and good story. Scout camps are great for fumble finger's losses. Those boyscouts bedding down for the night, taking off their trousers (or simply sleeping with their pants on) is the perfect recipe for fumble fingers goodies to spill out of pockets.

Some of the most amazing stories of the 1970s dawn-of-detecting, is those that were the first to hit virgin scout camps. Amazing stories of 20 to 30 silvers in a single outing weren't un-heard of.
 
DirtDick, You must have been down by your parents place again. Great hunting! Yesterday I found two Tiger Cub slides and two sterling rings. Your full house beat my two pair!

There is a time capsule at this scout camp too, to be opened in 2029 (50 yrs)
