Mostly just swinging around the house a few times so far, had a little extra time today. Went into my village, old schoolhouse is now in a park/ day care. Used to have circus come there in late 1800s also. Was digging quarters, dimes and pennies then found a cool button marked US NA. Also found an old belt buckle. Gotta figure out nickel id i was only digging 21+. Im a noob but was fun couple hours

I think you did good. There will be days of nothing but foil, can slaw, humidity and mosquito bites. It's always nice to find something, even clad. But in your case the button was extra special. The more modern stuff you dig out the more real goodies will be detectable. Hit that place hard until you get no signals at all.

Pretty sure that is a ww1 or ww2 collar stud. Not sure which branch though. Great hunt!
Good call on WWI. I did a lens search and found it is for the US National Army (USNA). I'd not heard of that before, so down the rabbit hole I went. Wikipedia provides the shortest explanation (but was verified elsewhere):

"A combined conscript and volunteer force, the National Army, was formed by the United States War Department in 1917 to fight in World War I. The National Army was formed from the old core of the regular United States Army, augmented by units of the United States National Guard and a large draft of able-bodied men."

Great find, Fool. đź‘Ť
