What do you dig with? Lesche, Hori Hori, Etc...?

I see that there are several pages for different digging tools so I thought I would try to have them all listed on one thread. This is page is meant to have mostly hand digging tools. So what do you use?

I use a Fiskars - works fine, dont have a problem with it.
Screwdriver when I am at the park where no digging is allowed.

The Fiskars is $7 at Walmart, does fine in Florida's soft sand soil. All I really need to do is cut through roots. We don't have natural stone, but do find some occasional, think used in landscaping. No reason to spend $30-$40 for a digger here.

In our hard rocky soil, I use the Lesche. It has performed flawlessly for me for 2 years. Finally bought a THandle from Buzz for it and hope to try it out this weekend! :yes:

Just received our Fiskars digger in the mail today and my first impression, "YES!"

I've seen a complaint regarding the handle tang breaking and my first impression on this point: stuff happens just like a car failing to start in the morning. Time will tell if a ten dollar Fiskars, is competition for a Lesche digging tool.

Also, we saw the sixteen dollar digging hatchet yesterday and yes, it has an unbreakable nylon handle and metal scoop/pick-ax head. For the price, yes, very nice and worth taking a flyer on as you can drive a semi over this digging tool, a thousand times, and it's not going break.

I have a Lesche (so I'm not posting from sour grapes) and other digging tools. What I can't find or figure out, the difference between Lesche digging tools and contractor grade tools which one can buy in a local hardware store for much less which, as a contractor, for decades, I used all day long digging foundations and pipeline trenches without maintenance (breakage) issues.

Just saying, Corona and Kobalt tools have been serving those, who's careers depend on tools, contractors and landscapers, for years so as a noobie to the MD'g hobby, I don't understand the love for Lesche.

Thank-you for the suggestion. Bart is a well respected personality. Out of respect for the forum, I won't go into my experience but professionally speaking, I will not be going back.

Fiskars..

I use the fiskars- modified by welding a tube on full circumference for the handle then installing comfy rubber grip over it. I think it will last years now
